Cd70 Software Update

I'm new here and would like some help if anyone can help. I have a 07 astra with cd70 navi and would like to know if the firmware/software can.
Hello Nige Apologies for direct approach but I have knacked my CD70 up and any help would be REALLY appreciated. I have lurked on this site for a while and today took the plunge to follow your advice on updating my CD70 firmware on my 2007 Vectra SRi. I downloaded the software and burnt at low speed and went through the upgrade procedure. Unfortunately my disc must have been useless and the display on the CD70 hung on Software Update for hours. I had to turn the ignition off and so I am stuck with a dead CD70.

I have removed the fuse and managed to get the suspect CD out. Currently my CD 70 only shows the BC functions and nothing else. From surfing around I understand the best recovery method is to remove fuse then re-insert and reset the EEPROM. Then re-update with a reliable disc. I am struggling with the EEPROM part, it maybe simple but I cant find this option in the Testmode.
Can you give me an idiots guide please. Can you also advise if you think i am doing the right thing in general.
Sorry to waffle on but I am bricking it in case I cant fix it and the Mrs finds out I have been 'messing with stuff I shouldnt again'!!!!!! Sorted myself - finally got a decent image burnt to disc and just stuck it in the machine and turned the ignition on. CD70 immediately started the update and all was well at the end kept my stations and navi destinations.
No messing with system settings, eeproms or fuses! If you do see this Nige thanks in any case for your earlier advice to other people. It still helped. ETHow did you make decent image ( what software, burning speed, disc manufacturer, burn mode)? I have also tried to update software on cd70 and now it's stuck. Radio and navi don't work. Only board computer works.
I have to remove fuse because screen does't turn off. I burned four discs with software update and none of them works. Bokiilic I used cheapo media (Teco CD's) and I think that was the cause of the problem. I also burned using several software apps (IMGburn, Nero and MagicISO). My successful burn was with my cheapo Tesco CD burnt on MagicISO at the slowest speed you can specify - mine was x4. I then turned ignition key on put the fuse back in and loaded this newly burnt cd. I noticed with mine that the percentage bar didnt seem to move for 5mins or so.
Dont panic if the percentage bar takes ages - initially I was told the whole process was 5-10 mins, mine took nearly 30mins from start to finish. Good Luck and keep me informed.
Hi, i am reading this with much interest, i too would like to update my cd70 unit but not sure now? If i download from here and it doesnt work then how much did the disc cost from main dealer and what is the most up to date disc avilable, gratefull for any replies, thanks.Costs just over?5 for the CD from the parts desk at your local Vauxhall garage - Part number is - 13294646 Having nearly bricked my unit; which would of cost nearly?800 to replace I would never risk updating any sort of firmware without, 1st needing to and 2nd use an official update CD. It's hardly worth risking possibly damaging your CD70 all for a matter of?5 and a two day wait whilst Vauxhall get it delivered. Most up to date CD is the 10/2007 version. I got the official update CD and tried to update my unit but it showed an error and now the disk is stuck in the unit, can't eject it. What should I do? Thank you in advance!I assume you put the update CD in the Navi slot?
This happened to me on a couple of occasions, I had to remove the fuse number 35 out of the fuse box located under the bonnet (Astra that is). I then put the ignition on, put the fuse back in and ran to the CD70 unit. I kept pressing eject till it came out.
Software Update
When this failed I actually wedged another CD into the navi slow, so that it was positioned below the actively spinning stuck disk. This may sound extreme but it did eject the CD but its not recommend. Worse case scenario is that you remove the unit using these special tools and then take the unit apart and manually wind the CD out. I hope this helps, but please do check the fuse number for the Infotainment system as it may be different to my Astra.
CD70/DVD90 software update I used a genuine CD to do mine that somebody kindly loaned me. This image is extracted from a torrent and in turn reuploaded to mediafire as a.rar file. Extract the rar and it produces a.nrg file. Use Nero to burn this to a decent quality blank CD at slow speed. To upgrade to your headunit you must turn the ignition on, remove you audio and maps disks then insert the software CD into the map slot. It will check your current software level and if it can update the HU it will ask if you wish to proceed.

Software Update Download
The update takes about 5 - 10 mins to complete. Your saved radio stations will be cleared but your saved navi destinations should remain. Once completed the CD will reject itself and quickly reboot the headunit.
DO NOT SWITCH OFF YOUR IGNITION DURING THE UPDATE. Downloading the one you posted. I will install it tomorrow and get back here.
My current ver. Later edit: @cavemannige: from what I see it's the same version, 04/2007. The size it's the same, 140 MB. Care to post the newest version (10/2007) on the web?did you try it though?
I had checked the files inthe download and they were the same as the files on the original disk. There isn't a newer version than this one as Vauxhall/Opel stopped installing the CD70/DVD90 after 2008 i believe.
